Need a Fuse Box Upgrade?

Enquire about having your old fuse box upgraded to a modern consumer unit.

Why do i need my fuse box replacing?

If your home was built prior to 2000, and you haven't had any upgrades completed, your installation may be missing some important safety devices to keep you and your home safe from electric shock and fire.

If your fuse box looks like this, doesnt have RCD'S to protect all circuits, or is damaged, then its probably time for a replacement.

How much safer are they?

If your consumer unit is really old, you'll likely have pull out fuses with fuse wire. These are far less reliable than modern MCB's RCD's and RCBO's. The function of the old devices was to protect the installation, whereas with RCD's and RCBO's, they are primarily there to protect life.

RCD's are designed to trip within under 0.3 seconds under normal fault conditions and can disconnect power much quicker than older alternatives.

What's the process?

It is strongly recommended to have a thorough electrical inspection completed prior to a consumer unit change. This will make sure that the existing install is safe and suitable for the upgrade. If no issues are highlighted, the replacement can be discussed, alongside any future thoughts for new circuits, kitchens, circuits for hobs, hot tubs and EV chargers. Its as simple as that!
